SBPRA was proud to partner with author Gail Lombardi to make the holidays a little brighter for children in her area this past Christmas. Gail and SBPRA contributed 40 copies of her book Shadow and Friends to be given out at a holiday party for underprivileged children.

The Sheetz family-owned business hosted the event and its employees and patrons made donations to help buy toys, games and clothing for the children. As Gail explains, “At the Christmas party, Santa gave them their presents and I handed each child a gift-wrapped copy of my book. When the children realized that I had written the book, they asked me to please sign books for them. It was a lot of fun and they were excited! One little boy looked at me and said ‘I never met an author before!’ It was precious!

It was a lot of fun and gave me memories that will last a lifetime. Some of children started reading my book when they realized I was the one that wrote it! They asked me what the book was about and I told them all about Shadow and how he teaches other little cats to be kind to each other, how to make friends and to be there for each other. I told them Shadow and his friends get into some really funny situations.

When their parents came to pick them up, some of children, dragging their parents behind them, said ‘She wrote this book!’ The parents would ask if I would sign the book for the child and I told them that I already had signed the books for each child so that it was personal to them from me.

Please take a moment and go to and click on charities. Sheetz supports children and the Special Olympics to name a few. They also give out scholarships to employees to attend college.

It was a fun way to spend a day and it was truly a blessing! Thank you to SBPRA for helping me supply a book to each child at the party.”
