The 2012 London Book Festival winners have been announced and author V.S Kalah’s book The Sentimentality of the Valley of Tea is among those chosen in the competitive Fiction category. The Malaysian author will be attending the award ceremony to be held at the British Library in London on January 24, 2013. The London Book Festival honors the best in international publishing, and judges on criteria of writing excellence and a book’s potential to reach a wide audience in a worldwide market.
The Sentimentality of the Valley of Tea: Stories From Malaysia is a wonderful collection of tales depicting the lifestyles of the Malaysian community, set in the ex-British hill station of Cameron Highlands where the author was born, as well as in the lowlands. The stories create a cultural potpourri with a blend of characters whose roots belong to major Asian ancient civilizations, as well as to the colonial British masters and overlords.
SBPRA congratulates this gifted storyteller!
