Aedon Young’s Innovative Marketing Approach

Writer/actor/gymnast/educator Aedon Young performed in a dark, acrobatic version of “Alice in Wonderland” in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada recently. Because her YA fantasy Mara Roams owes a nod to Lewis Carroll, Young set up a booth in the theatre’s lobby to sell her novel. A flyer promoting the book was included in the play’s handbill.  Tapping into her teacher persona, Young utilized some high school students in need of volunteer hours for school credit to sell her book. The students created a billboard with Young’s acting headshot, resumé, recent interviews, and book reviews.

Mara Roams sold very well during the play’s run. One audience member commented that she was pleasantly surprised to have found the book for sale, as she had been looking for it in local bookstores since reading a review in the newspaper. At curtain call, Young found herself in the enviable position of signing autographs:  both as an actor and an author!
